In 2020, my mom and I bought Serenity at the Shipyard so she could have a safe, peaceful home to enjoy her golden years. We spent two joyful months together renovating every inch—choosing the perfect tiles, cabinets, and paint colors to create a space filled with light, love, and comfort. She moved in February 2021, and for four beautiful months, we made memories that I will cherish forever.
Then, in July, everything changed. My mom was diagnosed with glioblastoma—an aggressive and fast-growing form of brain cancer. I became her full-time caregiver and spent the next twelve weeks by her side. She passed away on October 9.
This home is now my way of honoring her memory.
Today, Serenity at the Shipyard is dedicated to hosting others navigating cancer treatment—and the incredible nurses, doctors, and caregivers who support them. It's a cozy, calming refuge for those who need a place to rest, reflect, and heal.
Sharing this space is my way of keeping her spirit alive—and offering comfort to others, just as she would have wanted. Love you Zillions, Momma!
If you know someone undergoing treatment or caregiving who could benefit from a peaceful, comfortable place to stay, I’d love to help.
I’ll do everything I can to offer them the kind of care and comfort this home was created for.
