Serenity at the Shipyard was born from love—and from a daughter’s desire to give something back to the woman who gave her everything.
We closed on this home on December 30, 2020—my birthday—a day that became less about celebrating me and more about the gift I was finally able to give her. It was my way of saying thank you for a lifetime of love, sacrifice, and an upbringing filled with warmth, strength, and possibility.
Mom moved in February 2021, and for four precious months, this home held laughter, quiet mornings, and memories I will carry forever.
Then, in July, everything changed. My mom was diagnosed with glioblastoma(GBM) —an aggressive and fast-growing form of brain cancer. I became her full-time caregiver and spent the next twelve weeks by her side. She passed away on October 9, 2021.
This home is now my way of honoring her memory.
Today, Serenity at the Shipyard is dedicated to hosting others navigating cancer treatment—and the incredible nurses, doctors, and caregivers who support them. It's a cozy, calming refuge for those who need a place to rest, reflect, and heal.
Sharing this space is my way of keeping her spirit alive—and offering comfort to others, just as she would have wanted. Love you Zillions, Momma!
If you know someone undergoing treatment or caregiving who could benefit from a peaceful, comfortable place to stay, I’d love to help.
I’ll do everything I can to offer them the kind of care and comfort this home was created for.
